Well we have been home a week from our trip. It was so amazing-I knew it would be even though I wasn't very excited to go but it was amazing for different reasons. Yes beautiful, fun, stress free, and soooo nice to be with just Cameron. We have not been on a vacation (non-work related) without kids since our honeymoon-and that was kind of lame (park city for 3 days). You can kind of tell by the pictures that is was sort of a honeymoon for us (six kids later) we loved spending time together and without kids to take pictures of well it ends up being us and we tried to make them interesting. So back to why it was amazing for different reasons-I did not think I would learn sooo much nor thought it would be a spiritual experience for me. I hated History growing up-never learned a thing. I always questioned why my friend Katie loved it so much. Now I understand :) I would memorize the info for the test but never put the pieces together nor really cared to. I think it just felt like it was all fictional. Well the world and the church's history came alive for me on this trip. It all started on day one.
We had full time entertainment the entire trip! As if the Shaheens weren't hilarious enough. I had a hard time keeping up for those of you who know me-I am not always the one cracking the jokes. Cam fit right in and I was just entertained :) They were our entertainment and our tour guides. We had several tour guides but I felt like I had a personal tour guide with Marsha and the Copes. They were a perfect group to go with. This was our last stop-kind of a lame one. We felt ditched by our tour guide. The whole trip he would give us time at different historical locations and give us a time to meet back and most of the times he was waiting for us. This stop he gave us way too much time with nothing to really see. There were expensive shops and gelato. We had our last gelato. We were all done with an hr left.
This picture is for Bergin. We saw the picture at the airport and thought it looked just like her. This airport experience was the worst! There were a ton of people in what felt like no lines. Really the line we were in closed so we all had to merge into other lines-people weren't happy-nor were we.
Averee Cope keeping us all together in our EFT group. This was a crazy day. The Rome marathon was taking place and we were in the middle of the crowds.
The Colosseum was amazing. Can't wait to watch the Gladiator. I came home with a list of movies and books to watch and read. to think that we have gone from watching people fighting other people and animals to football. I guess football is a bit better ;0 I felt like I was in a really old ginormous football stadium.
this was the coldest day. We had a cold night in Paris but we had the most amazing weather all week! I brought two jackets this day but really only ended up needing one.
Craig & Marcia Hammer, Us, Bob and Tami Cope Wade & Dani Jensen, Keri, and Drake.
It was amazing to look out in these fields and see the ancient roman remainsThis reminded me of the prisons at Alcatraz. Being here made me realize that the history we would read about really took place. Now Im motivated to learn more.
To be honest-My brain was a little fried day 7 and 8 so I didn't learn very much in Rome as I am sure there is to learn but I am motivated to read about it now ;)
Our-let me interrupt myself tour guide, David. it goes without saying that we were grateful for him. Pause to clear throat and itch ear, then repeat myself 4 times for the high school kids and include the like. (all inside memories for all of our group) Below. Chuck and Alice (adults)
Lunch in rome. I was more hopefully for the Italian food and this meal was great but the rest I had were good but not great. I loved Cam's Lasagna and he traded me for mine even though his was better. Anyone who knows Cam-knows he loves his food and the fact that he doesn't even flinch when his is better than mine, he trades me cause he wants me to be happy. I think this shows his true love :) Because we all know and love his love for food :)
This is something I want to study about. These spires were all over in Rome and the artist in Paris pointed it out to us. Maybe it's nothing but I felt like it was something-they were in France as well.
Had to get a picture!
Cameron drank from the fountain of something.
Our last dinner. We ate a lot of pasta and bread!!
At the airport in Germany eating a braut (not sure how to spell it)

I'm so jealous you went to Italy. We wanted to go there while we are here but we are out of time. We are headed for Paris. Looks amazing. It looks like your trip was awesome. Wow- Europe without kids must have been incredible.
