The Marathon!!

Cam, Me, our retail manager and friend Cody Pickett
We did it. Cam signed us up for the st george marathon in June and I was dreading it ever since. We ran as much as we could or wanted this summer and then it was time weather we were ready or not. We were actually surprised because we felt great! We were running to finish in 3 hrs and 50 min. until mile 18 when my knee gave out. At this point I was hoping to just finish. I tried to stretch it out but it didn't get better so I finally told Cam to go ahead because I would have to go slow. He tried to catch up to the 3 hr 50 min group but at mile 22 he cramped a little and slowed down to stretch but he still finished at 4 hrs and 13 min. I did the best I could and limped in at 4 hrs and 22 min. It was just hoping that I didn't do permanent damage to my knee but at this point I knew this might be my first and last marathon because of my knee so I was determined to just finish and try to get a decent time. I took a radio to listen to conference. Conference started at mile 18 and it was President Hinkley that got me through it. I thought if he can do what he does at his age I can do this! Isn't it true? I love him so much. It is amazing how much love you can have for someone that you have never met in person. The recovery was worse than the marathon. I was so sore!! It was like the birth of Bryson. No one told me about the recovery. With an epidural the delivery is cake. I think a marathon is worth doing at least once. If I can figure out my knee I would do it again. Cam did great. He was sore for maybe two days. I was much worse than he was.

Dang chell.... what happen to your knee? For some reason when you were talking about running the marathon, I though of the time you took steph and I to the gym and we were doing an interval workout and I really thought I was going to die. You are amazing. 3 kids and running marathons. good for you both. You have the cutest kids and when I see their pictures, I want to smooch them all and I just crave a big hug from Bryson.
